Construction of the present Anglican Church in Brigus was begun in 1876 under supervision of George C. Jerrett. The first service was held there in December 1877. The building is a well-defined cruciform structure, seating between three and four hundred. In the early 1960's, consideration was given to replacing the structure with a smaller one. However, upon investigation of it's structural condition, the foundation, basement, and the building itself, were all found to be in excellent shape. It is much to the credit of the Anglican congregation that the decision was taken to let the graceful old structure, along with its many attributes, remain intact.

In 1963 a complete renovation project was begun under the supervision of Malcolm Bartlett, master builder of Brigus, whose excellent work did much to further enhance an already beautiful edifice.

The interior of the building is uncluttered by galleries and the like, and all the seating is at main floor level.

The stained glass window above the alter is the town's oldest. It depicts the Crucifixion and was donated to the church about 1880 as a memorial to the late Rebecca Bartlett who died May 7, 1879, aged 58.

The other windows in the chancel, as well as those in the nave and transept, are adorned with plain shades of red, blue and amber glass edging, which, especially on sunny days, shed a variety of soft colors across the tops of the pews and along the walls; while softly tinted glass in large round windows near the apex of the roof lights the stained woodwork of the ceiling and the timbers of the high gothic interior. This is truly one of Newfoundland's most beautiful church interiors.
