Gatherings and picnics were important functions in Everett Baker's work and leisure. "He'd keep track of everything going on. If there was a 4-H (event), he was there taking pictures. If there was a wedding, he took pictures and gave people copies of the slides."

Everett also employed various methods to encourage people to attend meetings. Early on, "he soon found out a lot of farmers had one or two or maybe more gates to get in and out and if a man came home from the field tired, he wasn't going to go to a meeting and go through all those gates, so he invited the women to come to the meetings.

He send them along to help, she could either drive or open gates." Quotes taken from Tilly Wilkins interview, May 16, 2003, property of Grand Coteau Centre, Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
