Henri began his collection when he found arrowheads, points and other artifacts on land that had been eroded.

2

Henri was born in 1929. At an early age, he showed an interest in collecting arrowheads, becoming a young entrepreneur.

Mr. Raymond Chabot tells us the story of young Henri.

6

Why did Mr. Liboiron start studying archaeology? Well, apparently it started at a very young age. As a school kid he used to go out into his father's fields and pick up Indian artifacts. And he did it mostly for spending money in those years. But then he developed....started asking questions, why? who? when? where? so he quit getting rid of those things or selling them and started building a collection and keeping extensive records of his finds and whenever he could purchase or borrow or get a book on archaeology, and it's something that grew with him, with the years probably all of his mature life, and so that's how it all started.

Henri's collection was originally housed in his basement. It soon became too large to display efficiently, and when the Centre Culturel Royer opened in 1994, Henri's museum was moved to one of its' rooms.

Leo Legault remembers visitors' reaction to Henri when they met him in the museum.

12

I remember the one time Henri had a classroom of little school children. He really kept them busy. They were here for an whole hour and they listened to him with wide eyes because Henri had the ability to keep them interested becasue he knew all the questions that the little kids would ask.

Leo tells us how Henri was invaluable to the children who visited the museum.
