In 1973, Sunny Cover Camp boasted the largest log building in Northwestern Ontario. The camp has hosted youth and family gatherings since 1933.

In 1974 a "new swimming and socializing centre" opened thanks to the efforts of the Kinsmen Club.

In 1976 a new seat of government opened as the Civic Centre was completed. The original town hall remained in place in what is now the court yard of the civic centre until construction was complete.
