"Good afternoon, welcome to the Humboldt Telegraph Station. My name is George Weldon and this is my wife, Catherine."

"Hello, you must be weary from your journey. Would you like to come in and rest for awhile? I've got the pot boiling, would you like a cup of tea? We don't get many visitors around here," says Catherine.

"Yeah, how about we take your horses around the back and give them some water," says George.

"Excuse me, I must hurry in, I hear a message coming in!" says Catherine.

The hearth was a central part of making the Humboldt Telegraph Station a home. Keeping the woodpile stocked was a full time job for George. Catherine was known for her hospitality, and with the kettle on the stove, was ready to serve the weary traveler a hot cup of tea.
