Fall Fair;
According to "A History of Olds and Area":
"Probably the oldest continuous tradition of Olds and district is the annual Agricultural Exhibition and Fair. Early in the 1890's the products of the fields and gardens were been shown. The first competition was on the railway station platform. Another… in the hall above Col. Walkers store on Main Street.
Soon these agricultural shows were moved to locations where they could take place in conjunction with sporting competitions…. many involved horses"

Fall Fair Grounds;
According to "A History of Olds and Area":
"The first track for horse racing is said to have been on Silverthorn's land, but early in the 1900's a "fair grounds" had been established just slightly northwest of the present High School. There the annual events of the Olds Agricultural Society were held for some years."

Fall Fair:
According to "A History of Olds and Area":
"This was the era of the horse. The pride and joy of owning fine animals was no less in those days than felt today for the vehicles and machines, which replaced them. Among the early residents of Olds and area there were many who took very seriously the friendly but dead-in-earnest rivalry, both of horse racing and also the pulling matches which measured the strength of the heavy draft horses, as in turn each team strained to move the maximum load."
