Arnprior was a natural location for a woolen mill such as Kenwood to be located due to the quality of the water necessary for wool scouring and felt fulling. Following the demise of McLachlin Brothers who employed a quarter of the town's people, it is said that Kenwood Mills was solely responsible for saving the town from bankruptcy and ruin.
