The Dorset Sign

There's a place in White Bay that's heaven to me
Where the toe of the Hummock's run out to the sea.
A prettier place you'll never see
than my native home, dear old Fleur de Lys.

Our forefathers came from far, far away,
When they saw the flower, they knew they would stay.
They must have been gentle, they must have been kind.
Cause the proof's in the people that they left behind.

And now I invite you in the year '96 to a reunion where we can all mix.
You won't need a road map, we're easy to find
Just take the turn at the Dorset Sign.

The Dorset lived here so long, long ago.
Where they came from, I really don't know
They fished and they hunted and lived off the land
And carved out of stone their pots and their pans.

But now they are gone and replaced by white man.
But they left behind great signs of skilled hands,
In the face, a rock you plainly can see.
The work of those people here in Fleur de Lys.

Now, this is the place where you'd want to be.
To join in the fun and be happy and free.
And if you're in the mood and you want a good time
Don't miss the turn at the Dorset Sign.
No, don't miss the turn at the Dorset Sign.
