On February 21, 1972, George Bishop said that this would be the last building that he would bring to the museum site. It took a further three years before the building actually made it to the museum site. He estimated the project to cost about $6500.00 and applied for a LIP grant to complete the move.

The Bayer Ferguson Homestead was purchased by Robert Stringer in 1900, from Bill Armstrong. It is believed the house was built in 1867 on Lot 15, Concession 7, opposite Red Lodge on Lake Manitou.

In 1901, Reinart (Rhinard) Bayer bought the house and moved it to his father August Bayer's farm. This was the property known recently as the Johnny Ben Ferguson farm. Pearl Bayer, Mrs. Robert Cosby, was born in this house on September 27, 1900, to Rhiney and his wife, Hannah Myers.
The last family to live in this house was the Floyd Ferguson Family. Floyd was the son of Andrew George Ferguson.
Floyd Ferguson moved this house to a location east of his brother, William's house, lot 9 Concession 8, in Green Bay.
The Floyd Ferguson family was living in this house at the time of Floyd's death in 1937, and lived in it until about 1940.
It was donated to the museum by Mrs. Reuben Ferguson.

This building was delivered to the site of the Little Current-Howland Centennial Museum, but before it could be erected on the site, some of the material disappeared.
George Bishop, the managing director suggested that it "went the way of the winter snow." Then, about 1980, it was removed to Little Current to serve as new Manitoulin Tourist Information Building on Highway 68, in Little Current. It stayed there until 1989, when Ken Ferguson returned the building, on a float, to its permanent location at the Little Current-Howland Centennial Museum.

When it was first constructed on its Highway 68 site in Little Current, three of Floyd Ferguson's granddaughters worked on its reconstruction and as tourist centre hostesses during its first few years.
