This picture was taken in the 1950's. Mrs. A is standing in front of the Women's Building, where, as Director of Women's activities, her program included official luncheons, teas, food, fashions, crafts, and special exhibits.

Beeton's Women Institute

Kate was quite active in her community. She helped introduce the Beeton Women's Institute, of which she became the first president. She later held higher offices in the Simcoe County Women's Institute.

The Beeton Fall Fair

Kate helped organize and activate a Junior Choir in Beeton's Presbyterian Church. In 1959, Kate officially opened the Beeton Fall Fair.

Kate the Conservation Director

Back at home, Kate was given the title of Conservation Director for the Federal Wartime Prizes and Trade Board, which regulated prices and organized food and gas rationing. Kate worked for free, a voice speaking to women on the home front with the slogan, "Use it up, wear it out, make over, make do".
