With this exhibit, we wish to show a more personal side of Kate Aitken, including everything that she has accomplished.

We plan to take the viewer on a tour and describe the history of this modern woman, including her family life, radio career, cooking recipes, famous world trips and interviews. This exhibit will feature a collection of local stories and photographs that represent the famous Kate Aitken.

Kate Aitken was a Canadian household name in the 1940's and 1950's, and was sort of a "Martha Stewart" of her day. Although, she did offer more practical, down to earth advice.

Kate Aitken was born to parents of Scots-Irish heritage, who originally came from Eramosa Township in Wellington County. Her father, Robert Aitken, was said to be related to Sir Walter Scott. Her mother was Anne Kennedy Scott.
