Visiting officers also brought prisoners that were captured in the remote areas of the province. These individuals were held in the Guard Room and awaited 'trial' and sentencing.

'Justice' was conducted by the Commissioned Officers and the Guard Room was the jail. Many of the prisoners worked off their fines in the confinement of the Commanding Officer's home.

Young Griesbach remembers that while during his father's term at Fort Saskatchewan, between 1885 and 1903, his parents kept an open house and 'all sorts of distinguished, and other not so distinguished', guests stayed with and worked for them.

The great social event of the year was the Annual Policeman's Ball. This was a time of match-making for single officers.

Invitations were sent out to the available white ladies as far as Edmonton and of whom were escorted by the police in their travels to and from the Ball.

Preparations included an orchestra, a special room for the ladies to prepare, fresh wash stands with toiletries, and branches of evergreen.

The Ball took place in the men's mess, dance programs were printed and supper was in the recreation room. This special event began with a grand march with a master of ceremonies.

On January, 1913 at 9:30 p.m. Dr. and Mrs. Peter Aylen attended the Annual Royal North West Mounted Police Ball in Fort Saskatchewan.
