And then I got a couple of lambs, when the boys were small. And one, one got underneath the scraper and got killed. And the other one we had around as a pet and then it disappeared in the fall. Spring time come and ah, the back...summer kitchen was open and my wife heard the pitter-patter in there. And so she put it in the pen and she phoned me where I was working and said the lamb came back and what am I going to do with it? I said, well, get a hold of it because it's all wool and just lead it and put it in the barn. And then they went away one summer and I got a hundred chicks and we raised them in the barn. And Shirley used to come and put her hand under to get an egg and she was only small and she was scared. And then one fall when I had them there, my wife and another neighbour, this Bernice Ducharme, they killed a whole bunch and she sold them for a dollar a piece. And we had chicken for ourselves and…

and then you brought home the pig.

and then I brought home a pig, I got from the Hutterite colony. And ah, the kids wanted to see it. I had a pen and a door on top and they pushed to look and see the pig. And I came home, the pig had climbed out up over top. And I had to chase it all through the airport area and finally caught it, after much chasing and sweating and swearing (laughing), Brought it home and it caught pneumonia. You know, sweating and running and it, I run it right into the ground. And ah, then my wife used to feed it penicillin, and trying to, and it just got sicker and sicker--finally, I took it to the abattoir and they killed it and that was it. Whatever they'd done with it, I don't know.
