Floats, cars, as well as children's decorated bicycles, were included in a contest which was judged by individuals from the local community. Prizes were awarded to the winners of each category. For example, the winners of the children's decorated bicycle would get ribbons and the winners of the floats were awarded with cash prizes.17

The competition catergories for the parade included: best overall float, best outside float, best local float, best novelty, best brass band, best junior band, best senior band, best junior drill team, best senior drill team, best decorated cars and best vintage car.22
