Barney remembers:

"I use to drive cows, and get 25 cents a week from Normie Robbins and my Uncle Elbridge , he use to have a store, Chester Outhouse, you must remember Chester and Rosena, and I use to drive his and Normie Robbins' and different ones and I'd get 25 cents a week for spending money."

Are we talking one cow?

"No, I'd pick up Minnie's cow, the fields was right there, and then I'd take them up."

Each person would have only one cow?

"Probably, one or two. And my Uncle Fred Outhouse, you know where the house is on the hill up there to Youngs, well that was all fenced in and barred then, and I'd take them out and put them up and put the bars up. Then I'd have to go over to Uncle Elbridge's was the other side, so I'd go up and drive his up the lane and do the same."

So when you put them up there, did you have to drive them back to the barn again?

"Yeh, you had to go get them at night to bring them back and sometimes they wouldn't be there. I remember one cow, it fell off a cliff. I just forget, they couldn't find the cow, you know, fell off a cliff down back towards the shore. I just forget whose cow it was, whether it was Normie Robbins' or whose it was. But that was about all you'd do, you know."
