CABLE BUILDING AFTER RESTORATION

In 1996, through a concerted effort and lobbying, the Bay Roberts Heritage Society Inc. managed to acquire the building and have it completely restored and renovated. Today it is known as "The Cable Building", rather than the Cable Station, and houses the Town of Bay Roberts offices and chambers on the ground floor, and the Road to Yesterday Museum and Christopher Pratt Gallery on the upper floor.

In 1999 the building was designated a Provincial Heritage Structure by the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.

In 2000 the Society received the Southcott Award for the restoration and preservation of a provincial historic building.

In 2001 the Society received the Museum Association of Newfoundland and Labrador "Award of Merit" for outstanding contribution to heritage development in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

In 2002 the Society received the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador "Manning Award" in recognition of excellence in the public presentation of Historic Places.
