From 1945 to 1957, Kate did three radio broadcasts per day. She had twenty-one secretaries on staff to help her answer the two hundred-sixty thousand letter she received. She insisted on answering them all, and personally signed each letter.

Kate was paid by a radio sponsor know as Tamblyns, named after Gordon Tambyln who grew up in Beeton as well, and was the founder of a drug store chain.

Kate Aitken was a prolific author, doling out advice in newspaper columns, pamphlets, and books, largely in response to the needs of her listeners. In 1941, Time magazine estimated her income at twenty five thousand a year, during a time when three thousand was a good yearly salary.

Nestled in the woods on the Credit River, near Streetsville, Ontario, sat Sunnybrook Acres, which was Kate's pride and joy. Surrounded by beautiful wildflowers in the woods, flower gardens and wildlife, this was Mrs. A's headquarters. This is where she came up with the ideas for her radio and television shows.

In 1957, Mrs. A retired from broadcasting. She did not, however, retire from public service. She continued to devote her energies to the United Nations, while serving as a board member for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
