The 4-H club is a community based organization dedicated to the growth and development of rural youth. Originally the club was called 3-H, with the three H's standing for:
Head - trained to think, plan and reason,
Heart - to be kind true and sympathetic
Hand - to be useful helpful and skilful
In 1911 the fourth H was added standing for:
Health - to resist disease, enjoy life and make for efficiency.
