Centennial of the arrival of the Religious Hospitallers of Saint Joseph in Tracadie, 1868-1968
Response of the Religious Hospitallers of Saint Joseph to the painful call of the "lepers from Acadia"
In September 1868, six nuns sent by Mgr Ignace Bourget left Montreal for the coasts of Estern Canada.
"They transformed a lazaretto where the sick were jumbled to the point of becoming intolerable to each other, into an organized house where patients found peace in their souls, security and relief from their incurable disease(as we thought it to be )".
