"The Blackie Choral Society will sponsor the first in a series of amateur nights in Blackie auditorium on Friday, May 8th.

There will be singing, dancing, impersonations, and a variety of entertainment.

The idea is to promote the development of talent throughout the district, and the competition is open to anyone interested."

"A novelty lawn dance has been arranged to kick-off an 8-day bargain spree offered by High River's leading merchants.

The fine, slick lawn of the C.P.R. gardens will be the setting for the opening-night dance on Friday, June 22nd.

A 20 piece dance band will render music of the highest order for dancing in the moonlight under the restful shade of the beautiful trees.

Moccasins or running shoes will be the order of the day, or rather night, with dancing from 10 p.m. until the early morning hours."
