Astrid Koop: So then these three schools closed [in 1946] and we all went to the North End [school]. And we were bussed. We were bussed to the North End. That was probably my last year of school there. I was in grade three. And we went to the North End. And that was just like--that would be like living in Leamington and then moving to New York City.

Candace Nast: Oh [laughing] Really!

Astrid Koop: A big jump, yeah. The North End for one thing we always, just like our parents, we were taught that the important people lived there. And that we needed to be careful. So that was a very big move.
