Jack Ray: Selling Glamour and Illusion

TRANSCRIPT

Amusement Park Work (Question 2 - What works by Jack Ray are you familiar with?)

"He also did a lot of designs for all different amusement parks throughout North America. One of which was a Kennywood ride front, I believe it still stands today. I know he did the gate front for Belmont (Montreal). I know that he redesigned most of the fronts for Belmont Park in San Diego that he owned in 1954. That was a pretty popular site and a lot of the different amusement park associations would use that as a keystone in amusement park design. So a lot of the designs that came out of 1954 were taken from his original work at Belmont Park at Mission Beach in San Diego."
