Residents who still remember the merry-go-round, the dodgem cars, the roller skating rink, the funhouse and the arcade refer to Main Street as Kitty City. Although many of these means of entertainment are no longer there Grand Bend has continued to be popular as a summer resort town. The local papers reported that in 1995, Victoria Day weekend brought approximately 15 000 young people to the resort village, whose year-round population is about 1 000. On the Sunday afternoon of that weekend, cars were backed up for kilometres on most roads leading into the village, and sidewalks in town were overflowing. The dance pavilion and the roller rink which drew crowds in the past no longer existed, but the beach, the bars and the boutiques still drew large crowds.

In 2009 village merchants actively promote their community as a fun family destination with plenty of things to see and do. Among summer activities are the annual Air Show which includes the Canadian aerobatic team, the Snowbirds and a Barbecue Steak and Chicken Cookoff.
