'We hadn't had nothing to eat since Saturday afternoon, the last meal on the boat sort of thing. And we were on a train through the night, eh, and stop and go stop and go and no breakfast. They finally served us breakfast over at the Kaisers. A box of cornflakes. Well, we never seen cornflakes. (laughter) We kept passing it around we didn't know what to do with the dumb things! A loaf of bread hardly made it around the table. There were 8 or 9 of us there.'
