TRANSCRIPT

"The Shop Whistle- we grew up with it- we grew up with the Shop Whistle. It blew at 7 o'clock in the morning to say: 'Boys, time to get up.' It blew at 20 to 8 that was for the 'get ready for work'. It blew at 5 to 8, twice, twice at 5 to 8. By that time, you should be on your job and then it blew five minutes later at 8 o'clock and that was the start of work time. Then it blew again at 12 o'clock noon to signal lunch and 20 to 1, it blew again to say 'Time to finish lunch and think about going back to work and it blew at 1 o'clock to start work and it blew at 5 o'clock to end the day."
