On the School Benches

TRANSCRIPT

Apart from classes, there were student activities, sports days at Vallée du Parc or Stoneham, snow classes and sugar parties in spring. Those activities were so much fun! What made the biggest impression on me was the one-week camp they held in the beginning of June. At the time, students in the first and second years of secondary school could get a dispensation from exams and permission to go to the camp provided they maintained an average of 85% or more. Everyone who earned this end-of-year gift attended the camp. We rented a piece of land that belonged to the Scouts from June 1st to around June 5th or 10th. It was a theme camp, and since I had a certain talent for drawing, I was appointed to prepare special theme panels. For example, if the theme was Astérix and company, I made panels picturing Astérix, Obélix and the whole gang. These panels were set up on an arch at the entrance to the site. Several teachers took part in the camp.
