Project Haiti began in 1991 and extended over several years. A small group of students and teachers traveled there to open a library. We organized a book collection here in Trois-Rivières, then went to Haiti to open the library. We were even taken hostage the year the president resigned. There were problems and we got back later than expected. It was during study week. This experience had a big impact on the girls. Some of the ones I've met since then are involved in CIDA, for example.
