On the School Benches

TRANSCRIPT

As the director of student life, I wanted the school to be lively, attractive and dynamic. Since I was interested in expanding cultural horizons, I organized trips for students in their third, fourth and fifth secondary school years. For girls in their fifth (and last) year, it was a trip to New York. I thought this trip might replace the prom, but my idea was turned down. The tradition of a New York trip for graduating students began in 1991.Organizing it was a challenge, but the trip was a big success. Since that time, a trip to New York is planned each year, and it's always a big topic of discussion. Last time, there were about a hundred students in three buses. We visited the UN, which the girls had studied about in history. We also visited Radio City Music Hall and the Twin Towers.
