On the School Benches

TRANSCRIPT

At the day school in Shawinigan, we could subscribe to the Jesus Theatre, which staged two or three Little Theatre productions a year. At the time, Father Legault was in charge of the theatre company. Now the great names in Québec theatre perform there. I remember going to Montreal in the school bus. Just going to Montreal was an event in itself. And what a trip it was! We went to Saint Catherine Street and ate in a restaurant. This was at a time when we hardly ever ate out. We had five bucks for the meal. Then we went to the old Jesus Theatre house. We had read the play before leaving and were really excited about seeing it performed. On the way back we slept because it was late.
