I remember we were allowed to knit in class after finishing our exercises. Each lesson began with theory and was followed by a period of individual exercises. Sometimes, after the exercises were corrected, a few minutes were left before the end of class, and then we'd take our knitting out of the large bottom drawer of our desk and knit. I think that at least 90% of the girls who graduated in 1982 know how to knit. We're a generation of knitters. We were good at it. We used to make hats with ear muffs, sweaters and things like that.
