Speed, Brawn & Beauty: The History of the Northern Manitoba Trappers' Festival

VW: … on Saturday morning the first thing we wanted to do was get down for the start of the dog race because that was a pretty spectacular thing even then and, I think, still is. The other thing I remember about the Trappers' Festival was that everybody highlighted wearing fur. In those days we wore moccasins in the normal course of the winter, that was the best footwear and sometimes with rubbers over them, but usually not. So while it wasn't unusual, the fur attachments were. And that I remember quite clearly.
