Blanche Coultis: Pioneering Country Teacher
Brooks and District Museum
Brooks , Alberta

Enter

extinct western buffalo skull
that was dated by a
paleontologist to between
5000 and 11 000 years old.
Her love of learning
continues today through her
everyday life.

   A short video of Blanche
Coultis giving an

introductory lesson to third
graders is included in the
exhibit. Children are
introduced to the idea of
arriving at school carrying a
syrup pail, instead of
today’s lunchbox, full of
lunch or, as in some schools,
being served a hot lunch at
the school.

   We hope you enjoy this
exhibit dedicated to one of
Alberta’s pioneering
educators.
