Salute to our Veterans
Station Cultural Centre, Town of Okotoks Museum and Archives

   This exhibit celebrates
veterans from Okotoks and
District: those from here,
and those who moved here in
later years. Four of this
exhibit’s storylines,
Remembering Our Fallen Heros,
Letters From the Frontlines,
Amazing Stories, and The
Homefront, draw from our

large database of information
on veterans from the region.
In Remembering Our Fallen
Heros, we have used a
selection of video clips to
introduce silent,
commemorative pictures and
text. It shows how the
Okotoks community remembers
its veterans. The remaining

three storylines use image
and sound narration
exclusively. Voices were
provided by volunteers from
the Okotoks community and
staff of the Town of Okotoks.
   Our source materials are
based on a collection of
photographs created by Mrs.
B. Hole, of Okotoks. Her

mission was to take pictures
of enlisted men and women
before they left for training
or deployment. These pictures
are very precious, as some
are the very last taken of
soldiers before they died.
The Okotoks Review, the
town’s local newspaper, was
used to help research the
