On June 28, 2012, the government of Québec announced its intention to designate Les Jardins de Métis and Estevan Lodge. This recognition coincided with the 50th anniversary of the opening of the gardens to the public. The designation of Les Jardins de Métis and Estevan Lodge included aspects of its interior and décor, such as the bell system used to call the servants, the sideboard in the dining room as well as all of the interior panelling. The designation is a symbolic recognition of the site and also confirms the importance of the property as a living memory of summering on the Lower St. Lawrence.
