The post office was established in 1937. In its heyday "Little Chicago" consisted of a Hudson's Bay store, two oil well supply deposits, three trucking firms, a machine shop, three lumber yards, two garages, a furniture store, three grocery stores, several boarding houses and restaurants, the Mountview Theatre - a combined theatre and dance hall, and several bootlegging establishments. At its peak "Little Chicago" had a population of more than 2,000!
