Water!

One of the most important people in Little Chicago was the water man. A water well was drilled in the area, and the water was delivered by truck. Well water and rain water was stored in galvanized barrels.

The post office was established in 1937. In its heyday "Little Chicago" consisted of a Hudson's Bay store, two oil well supply deposits, three trucking firms, a machine shop, three lumber yards, two garages, a furniture store, three grocery stores, several boarding houses and restaurants, the Mountview Theatre - a combined theatre and dance hall, and several bootlegging establishments. At its peak "Little Chicago" had a population of more than 2,000!
