Eli Boyaner, Abe Guss, Gar Meltzer and others formed and led Jewish Scout and Cub troops from the 1920s to the 1960s. The boys participated in the same activities as their non-Jewish counterparts - meetings, earning badges, camping in the summer and in 1937 some of the boys formed part of the honour guard for the Royal Visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Meanwhile, Jennie Brownberg, Stella Komiensky and Ida Guss Fransblow and others were organizing Guides and Brownies. The Guides participated in many camping trips. In 1959 the last group of Jewish Brownies in Saint John traveled to Fredericton for another royal visit, this time by Queen Elizabeth II.
