Still heavily forested, the east shore from where three creeks joined to enter the lake, revealed some buildings that were indicated to be parts of Caribou City. Just north of this was a bigger clearing.There were surveyed lots laid out here defining a modern town complete with acreage designated for the building of a smelter. This project was the result of Arthur Burton and his brothers combining to start the town of Burton.
