"The Scarborough Muslim Association runs this mosque. The SMA was established in 1980 and we purchased this property for the mosque in 1992 at a three million dollar price. Now we are here the whole day, five times praying here, and for Friday prayers, approximately 1500 to 1700 people gather every week here.
I deliver the sermon on Friday in Arabic and English too. The congregation is from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Middle East, from England - it's multicultural".
Sheikh Qasim Ingar emigrated from the Gujarat Province, India. As Imam of the Jame Abu Bakr Siddique Mosque, he has worked since 1989 with the Scarborough Muslim Association, establishing the mosque and providing guidance to the Scarborough Muslim Community.

"When I go down that street [Lawrence Avenue East] now, if I'm going to walk from here over to Price Choppers at Midland I'm walking along the street and I see all these people coming out of these apartment buildings and I look and I'm thinking, wow , has this placed ever changed But it's the same! because the buildings look the same, everything looks the same. I think that's wonderful. To me, its seeing all the different make up of people".
