Ceiling tiles - Ornamental tin tiles were used to cover the Jail's ceilings over a century ago. In touring the building, it will be seen that many of the metal ceilings have been preserved and that several different designs were used.

Floorboards - A look at the 1840 pine tongue and groove floorboards used in building the Jail. They were put in place with hand-made nails.

The octagonal stone bays that formerly housed the privies were also left intact.

This outside wall was the only barrier between the public and the inmates in the exercise yard. It measures approximately 13 feet high and is armed with razor wire at its peak.

Hand-made flooring nail - An example of those used in building the York County Jail, 1840 -1842.

Weapon - This device was constructed by a prisoner with whatever materials were available. In this case a home-made nail and a block of wood were tied together to make some type of stabbing weapon.
