Text from audio file:

"As far as my daily routine was concerned as a Ground Crew Fitter. There was no such thing as an eight hour shift. At peak we had about ninety aircraft around there, and they were all Mark 1 Ansons and they were quite difficult to maintain at the best of times. They were very difficult in the wintertime because of the type of Aircraft they were. They weren't intended for extreme climates."

"But we used to...there would be eighteen aircraft to each flight, each hanger, and there was, I think, four trips a day. There was a dawn patrol, a morning flight, afternoon flight and what they call a dusk patrol. So you were going from, as far as the aircraft hangers were concerned, you were going from around five o'clock in the morning til the last one came in at night around ten or eleven maybe, maybe a little later. So most hangers were working on the two shift system, six days a week, one day off, every month you would get a short weekend and about every three months you would get a long weekend. Two weeks leave a year. And so you were pretty well on the go all the time, you know, there was very little slack time."
