Sutton came from Pushthrough in 1878 to take over the section of the telegraph line from Head Bay d'Espoir to Bay du Nord. A year later, George's brother Jeremiah followed him and settled in Head of the Bay. Within the years that followed, more people relocated to Head of the Bay and Milltown. They were William Perry, James Willmott, John E. Lake, Samuel Kelly, Jerry Sutton, Robert Kendell and brothers Morgan and Wilson Roberts.
