Flower Garden Quilt, 1966

Marilyn Sararus:

This quilt was made by my grandmother, Lillian Misener Bond. She used leftover fabrics from her own dresses and aprons and also of her daughters. Annie Bond Bean and my mother. Mother could identify numerous materials from the quilt...the dress I wore when I went to high school, the apron I wore etc. How delightful to have those memories! This quilt was given to me as part of my wedding trousseau. I treasure it greatly as it is the only quilt that I have from my maternal grandmother. I put it on my guestroom bed for special overnight visitors.

Gown worn by Marilyn Sararus at her wedding in 1966.

...the bride wore a formal wedding gown of white crepe featuring an empire waistline and falling into a slight train at the back. The lace bodice of pearl centred daisies had elbow length sleeves. In keeping with the tradition of wearing something old, the bride wore the white strap slippers which her grandmother, Mrs A.E. Bean had worn on her wedding day 58 years ago.
