The refurbishment of Stainton's Home Hardware's facade in the 1990s won them an award and many admiring looks.

In the 1980s, Stainton's expanded their store to include the building built to the north of it by John Pattison in 1950.

T.A. Mills Department Store was a pioneer department store that carried items to satisfy most of the needs and a few desires of the early Wingham area settlers.

In 1932, the Wingham Advance-Times operated out of this building and stayed here until the 1980s.

In recent years K.G. Electronics resided in this space until it moved to a larger space on the east side of Josephine Street.

It has recently housed Young Drivers of Canada and the temporary offices of the Jack Reavie Centre. In 2004, the R. Little Coin Shop opened in this location. It sells and buys coins and currency.

For over 45 years this building has housed hardware (Alex Young's ) and repair (Joe McGill) businesses. In 1976, that changed when it became the Maitland Restaurant.

Fred Carter's bakery filled this building with the smell of bread and pasteries from 1922 to 1946. Before him, it was a place children loved to go because Mrs. Cummings sold penny candy and other confectionaries.
