We close this glimpse at Pembroke's history with another look at one of the fashions highlighted in our shows. This article below makes reference to this beautiful gown, and the link between the two events is an example of historical connection.

"Mrs. H. Mackie's Reception":
"Last Friday afternoon and evening Mrs. Herbert Mackie gave her first reception since her marriage at the home of Mrs. Thomas Mackie, in Pembroke Street. The delightful Spring weather which prevailed during the afternoon materially contributed to the noteworthy success of this fashionable function. In the afternoon from 4 to 6.30 and the evening reception which was from 8 to 10 o'clock.
Mrs. Herbert Mackie wore her wedding gown, an exquisite Paris creation of white embroidered net over embroidered chiffon.
Mrs. Thomas Mackie appeared in embroidered chiffon over Taffeta.
The drawing room was decorated in daffodils and Marguerites, and the dining room in which the refreshments were served was beautifully done in pink bridal roses, all being the work of a skilled decorative artist brought from Ottawa to perform the task."
