The Nina Bowater was one of the nine ships of the Bowater fleet that sailed in and out of Corner Brook during the Bowater Era, which ended in 1984. These well kept ships with their distinctive green and yellow color carried Corner Brook Newsprint around the globe.

The last tow of 4 ft. wood from Brake's Cove to the Mill by the tugboat Indian Lake, June 1987. The old method of floating logs down the Humber River to the mill in Corner Brook ceased in favor of shipping logs by truck.
