Through the Ontario Regional Museum Program in cooperation with the Ontario Museum Association, the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Ontario was the first stop for the exhibit, and in October 2001, it hosted the grand opening. Featured in the ROM’s Hydro One Gallery until April 2002, it was the perfect space to allow visitors an appreciation of the content and the work that went into putting it together. The exhibit remained there until the spring of 2002 when it was sent to its second destination, the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes in Kingston, Ontario.

Its first journey back to Goderich, Ontario occurred in September 2002 when the Huron County Museum hosted the first of four Marine Heritage Festivals. With the Wexford's discovery just two years earlier, interest in marine heritage was heightened and large crowds attended the ten-day event. The Great Storm exhibit, of course, made up the centerpiece of the large display. Other activities during the Festival were multi-media presentations from various marine historians, panel discussions and films. Charter dives to the Wexford shipwreck were also arranged throughout the week. The attendance over the course of the event exceeded everyone's expectations. The Museum hosted three more Festivals in the following years, although the Great Storm exhibit was not featured as it was still on display at other locations.
