Apart from a couple of residential buildings, which used to belong to the Swayze family, Elfrida United Church is the last surviving structure of the hamlet of Elfrida.

The little crossroads community (once known as Swayze's Corners) vanished in the mid 20th century, only to be reborn as a vast sprawling suburban housing and big-box store development in the last decade.

One of Stoney Creek's most popular post-1945 entertainments was the Speedway, located at Highland Road and Upper Centennial Parkway.

All of Upper Stoney Creek's former hamlets have, to one degree or another, vanished.
Several, particularly Elfrida, have been reborn however as Satellite City (and Heritage Green).

The real test is to try and maintain a sense of what was, even as today's progress and tomorrow's projections before yesterday's past.

Mount Albion, Greentown, and Elfrida deserve no less.
